Yes, Facials are necessary for good skin care!
Facials are aesthetician administered skin care treatments that enhance the look and health of your skin. During a facial, your aesthetician will use specific products and equipment for deep and complete facial cleansing. We have a variety of ways to safely exfoliate your skin and then apply therapeutic ingredients suited for your skin type and skincare needs. When you have regular facials the performance of your home skin care products is enhanced because ingredients penetrate better into your deeply clean and professionally exfoliated skin.
What benefits do facials provide?
Facials are a great way to rejuvenate the skin, remove wear and tear and tank-up the skin for more visibility and exposure. They are capable of stimulating the skin's renewal mechanisms and resurfacing skin texture; they are an important part of keeping your skin texture maximally youthful, hydrated and plump, and they also keep your skin color even. If you ask anyone who gets regular facials, they will tell you that their facials are key to keeping their complexion looking its best.
The benefits of a facial come from the ability of a well done professional facial to help stimulate cell turnover and your skin's renewal of collagen when substances such as serums, hydrators, and or masks are introduced into deeper layers of the skin. This helps to build more elasticity and collagen over time. Facials can benefit scarring, wrinkles and crinkles and even improve deep hyperpigmentation. Soothing steps can be added to reduce redness for sensitive skin too.
The end result is that facials will help to create smooth, bright, youthful and well-groomed skin that you are proud to show the world. This tells others that you take good care of yourself. If you are a fan of wearing makeup, your facials will create an even palette for the perfect makeup application.
What are the different types of exfoliations used in a professional facial?
When the epidermis is laden with superficial dead cells, the skin becomes dull and crinkled looking. There are three types of exfoliations: Manual, Physical and chemical. In the treatment room a method is chosen specifically for every unique patient always ensuring clinical results and a pampered feeling during the treatment. Manual exfoliations consist of a micro bead exfoliator, a more suitable choice for sensitive, young skin, or teenage facials. A physical exfoliation such as Microdermabrasion is chosen for skins with more dead cell build up, for rougher looking skin, to refine open pores and to allow any serums or vitamins to penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin. A chemical exfoliation uses a peeling agent. Our professionally applied peel solutions exfoliate dead skin cells and help healthy skin cells rise to the surface. These treatments allow deeper layers of fresh and untouched skin to be revealed. The result of monthly treatments can even skin tone, clear acne, improve the appearance of aging skin and make dull complexions glow.
As PCA Skin® Certified Professionals we are trained to identify what treatment combination is safe for each person’s skin in order for you to have the best results. These Chemical Peels are safe for all skin types, Professional peels are increasingly effective with pre- and post-treatment care, balancing your skin before the peel and nurturing it after the treatment.
When you consistently keep up a facial routine alternating between these types of facials, you will see results that include fewer visible crinkles and wrinkles, smaller and tighter pores and a lightening of uneven pigmentation and sun or age spots. For first-time clients, your goals and needs determine what we do in the treatment room for you that day.
What are the specific steps involved (a.k.a., the procedure used) in a facial?
When someone comes in for a facial, a medical history is evaluated for any existing medical conditions or for allergies that I should know about. I then proceed to ask what their needs or concerns are for their skin. For some it might be the dullness of their skin, for some the insisting acne breakouts, and for others it might be that unwanted hyperpigmentation that comes from living in sunny Miami. Alternatively, they may be struggling with sensitive skin or redness caused by Rosacea or their skin is frustrated with products that make their issues worse instead of better. Once I’ve created a plan I cleanse the skin using my hands, which allows me to feel their complexion, the skin’s texture and strength helps me figure out if the skin is oily, dry, or combination. If there is acne, this helps me feel where inflammation and congestion are underlying. I then proceed to choosing a method of exfoliation, again depending on the skins needs I choose micro bead exfoliation, microdermabrasion or a chemical. Detoxing the skin from dead cells and applying vapor allows me to open up the pores to remove any black heads and congestion in the skin. I do this with gloved hands and a tissue over my fingertips to create gentle traction. Once that is done, I plump and deeply hydrate the skin by choosing a corrective mask for their skin type, while we wait for this mark to set, I add my signature neck and shoulder massage. Finally, the last step is choosing corrective serums, a moisturizer and the facial sunscreen that perfectly fits my client's complexion. These steps are performed in every facial, plus a shoulder and facial massage. Our team only wants our patients and clients to have well-treated skin that they are proud of; our facials are reasonably priced, and our facial service is very generously performed without hurry. In short, facials are a great way to quickly cleanse and revitalize your skin.
