BEFORE THE CHEMICAL PEEL PROCEDURE

Avoid any harsh treatments in the days leading to the peel, such as microdermabrasion, waxing, electrolysis or any aggressive chemicals or exfoliants.

Sun exposure, tanning beds, and tanning creams should be avoided for a minimum of 1 week prior to your scheduled treatment date.

AFTER THE CHEMICAL PEEL PROCEDURE

Post Peel

Immediately after the peel your skin may be yellow retinoic acid has been used, however this will fade within an hour. Your skin maybe reddish and continue to look sun burned or tanned until peeling begins. DO NOT WET, WASH, SOAK, STEAM OR SUBMERGE any area of body that has been exposed to peel for AT LEAST 12 hours.

Day 1-7

Gently wash peeled area and apply sunscreen. If you are significantly itchy you may gently cleanse with tepid water, or with a gentle cleanser only. You may experience itchy or tingly sensations. You may take Original Benadryl to lessen this occasional side effect and to help you sleep. Peeling, if any, should begin after day 6, depending on the original condition of the area.

Day 8-14

Gently wash peeled area and apply sunscreen. You may or may not again experience itchy or tingly sensations on these days. Original Benadryl will lessen this discomfort and help you sleep. Skin may feel a bit rough and dry. Micro-peeling can take place during these days.
Once the peeling begins apply the moisturizer as often as necessary to relieve discomfort, prevent any hotspots, and also to help hide some of the sloughing skin. DO NOT SCRUB, PICK, OR PULL THE SKIN OFF. Instead allow it only to come off during your gentle cleansing and drying. You can damage skin by forcing it to come off before it is ready!

Day 14 and beyond

Your nurse or esthetician will outline the ideal home care program to maximize your results. If your skin feels sensitive, wait until irritation subsides. Do not use anything abrasive or harsh on your skin for another week or two, again depending on its sensitivity. If you should apply anything to your skin that creates discomfort, wash it off immediately.

Sunscreen

You must wear a minimum of SPF 30 full spectrum sunscreen daily for 8 weeks post procedure.
