What is Microchanneling, benefits and expectations.
In the never ending pursuit of providing you with healthy, smooth, glowy skin we came across the term “microchanneling”, sounds very futuristic right? When we found and tried microchanneling we knew we had come across a very exciting treatment. You may be looking to treat fine lines and wrinkles, fade acne scars, minimize enlarged pores, or even out your skin tone and microchanneling is a safe and effective treatment that can help you achieve noticiable results. So what is “Microchanneling”? How is it different from Microneedling? In this blog we are discussing all the amazing benefits of this treatment.
What is Microchanneling?
Microchanneling is an innovative, non-invasive procedure designed to achieve maximum results in minimal time. The microchanneling method involves creating thousands of tiny puncture holes, aka microchannels, into the skin to facilitate healing. By stimulating the outermost layers of the skin, microchanneling amplifies your body’s natural process of generating the building blocks of healthy skin. This increase in collagen and elastin, combined with the breakdown of old tissue and specially targeted serums, helps to improve skin texture, scarring, stretch marks, and aging skin. The results? Younger-looking, clearer skin with minimal downtime!
What can Microchanneling treat?
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Scarring & stretch marks
- Hyperpigmentation
- Acne
- Skin laxity
- Enlarged pores
What is the difference between Microchanneling and Microneedling?
In both microneedling and microchanneling, micro-injuries are caused to the epidermis to facilitate collagen production and healing; however, the tools used, the depth of penetration and the recovery process are much different.
For microneedling treatments we use the Dermapen device, which is a skin pen that provides us with depth control from 0.5mm to 2.0mm (meaning more penetration opportunity), the downtime from microneedling which includes redness may last up to 3 days. In contrast, a microchanneling device utilizes a linear controlled stamping technique to achieve precise microchannels across the surface of the skin. Most patients can resume their usual daily activities immediately after microchanneling treatment, so it’s a wonderful option for clients who don’t want to worry about downtime.
When should I see results from Microchanneling?
Depending on your goals, it’s not unusual to see an improvement in skin quality from the very first treatment! However, as neocollagenesis (new collagen production) typically takes a few weeks, you will continue to notice an improvement as your skin heals and regenerates. Working with your esthetician to develop a strategic microchanneling treatment plan is crucial to ensure you get the best out of your service—this includes aftercare and follow-up appointments. A series of 6 treatments every 7-14 days is recommended to achieve optimal results.
